HAROUN ALFRED HAROUN
January 15, 1943 ˜ April 26, 2021

Everyone knew Alfred, and if you didn’t know Alfred he would make sure you got to know him in his typical social butterfly fashion! Haroun lived a full and adventurous life, which began Jan. 15,1943, in Beirut, Lebanon.
Alfred had at least 9 (nine) lives; from having his finger cut off in a machine at his Dad’s tire shop as a young boy, getting bit by a rabid dog, fending off rebels, not once, but twice in Sierra Leone, the first time with a spoon, the second time with an air horn and then being evacuated from Sierra Leone on a US Navy ship. Almost getting sucked into quicksand in Bureh Town, sailing from Africa to Rio for Carnival, and stoically surviving a cardiac arrest five years ago.
After traveling the world and establishing his business in Sierra Leone, he settled in Vancouver, WA, where he enjoyed Coffee at Starbucks, Squash at Lake Shore, Poker nights at Bonaventure, and drinks at Cameo.
Sadly, and despite Alfred’s strength and courage, the second cardiac arrest, after just stepping off the dancefloor, was simply too much, ending his life April 26, 2021.
Alfred was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Haroun; and his parents, Alfred and Kafa Haroun. He is survived by his daughters, Zeana (Andrew) and Rania (Evan AKA Skip); his brother, Antoine Haroun; sister, Antoinette Yazbeck; nephews, nieces, cousins around the world and the many friends he made throughout his life.
He was a loving and devoted father who is sorely missed. His legacy, and more importantly his humor, will live on forever. Please join us in celebrating his life Friday, May 14, at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church (8701 NE 119TH St, Vancouver, WA 98662) at 11 a.m. You may also access the livestream of the service through the church website: https://www.stjohnvancouver.org/

To honor the life he and wife Linda built in Sierra Leone, donations can be made to SOS Children’s Village where Linda was a teacher when she first met Haroun: https://team.sos-usa.org/AlfredHaroun/Donate
