Richard Bernhardt

December 22, 1928 — September 13, 2018

Richard William Bernhardt was born on December 22, 1928 in Vancouver, Washington to William and Wanda Bernhardt. Besides time spent serving in the Army and a few years working on the railroad in Alaska, he spent his entire lifetime in Vancouver. On September 13. 2018, Richard passed away at the age of 89.

Richard is survived by his three sons, Richard (Janet), Roger (Teresa), Robert (Susan), daughter Rose, step-son Michael Ellis (Jean), 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Annabell "Pat", his parents, brother Ronald and Rayola Bernhardt.

Richard loved to travel in his younger years and enjoyed the outdoors his entire life. He spent decades farming and was an expert gardener. Richard attended the historic Felida school and the old Fort Vancouver High School. He was a longtime member of Vancouver Church and an avid reader of the Bible.

A memorial service will be held at the Northwood Funeral Home, Fireside Chapel, 16407 NE 15th Avenue, Ridgefield, WA 98642 on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2 p.m.
