Wayne Loyd Mets

Wayne Loyd Mets born August 25, 1926, passed peacefully on Friday morning October 22, 2021
while staying at Mallard Landing Retirement Home. He was 95 years young. Resilient until the
end, he loved to work on his home and garden and did so even up to this past summer. But
even more he loved his only child Debbie and his beloved wife Vivian who sadly both preceded
him in death.
Wayne started working at a young age and joined the Navy at 17 to help in the fight of World
War II. He had married his sweetheart Vivian before his ship departed and enjoyed a wonderful
66-year marriage. He retired from International Paper after over 30 years of faithful
employment and so was able to enjoy many annual vacations to Hawaii with Vivian as well as
many years together at their summer home in Harrison, Nebraska.
He very much missed his wife and daughter and I know he is smiling again to be reunited with
them once more.
He is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed.
