Betty Jeanne Boaglio

March 31, 1934 — July 8, 2022

Jeanne, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home July 8, 2022.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald L. Boaglio (2002); a brother, Stanly Hixson (2004); her mother, Mattie M. Hixson (2005); and her father, Arthur J. Hixson (2006).

She is survived by four children, Michael L. Boaglio (Cheri), Suzanna M. Casey (Bob), Gianina M. Boaglio, and Melissa A. Boaglio (Mike Clapp).

Jeanne was born March 31,1934 in Merlin, Ore., just outside of Grants Pass, Ore. She lived there until 1946 when she and her family moved to Longview, Wash.

While attending grade school she developed her lifelong friendship with Sondra (Young) Bates and later at age 14 met her future husband, Jerry. She graduated high school from R.A. Long in 1952 with her aunt (like a sister) Betty Anne (Hixson) Cliffton. She then married Jerry and they were married for 50 years, until his passing. (March 2002)

She was a proud homemaker and mother of her four children. She worked part-time as bookkeeper for her cousin Pat McElligott who owned and operated a local feed store. Jeanne later did bookkeeping many years for her father who owned and operated Art’s Electric. She worked in the library at Weyerhaeuser for a time.

She loved to crochet which she learned from her mother and made many Afghans over the years, some of which were for her great-great-grandbabies. Quite often you would find her in a comfy chair crocheting while watching the chaos of family gatherings. She also did oil paintings and was the family “photographer.”

She was an accomplished violinist, she played often in her earlier years at the Longview Community Church where she attended then. She also played the piano and instructed many students over the years including most of her 15 grandkids and 36 great-grandkids.

In her later years she learned to scrapbook (from a close family friend Kari Rushmore). She made many books with the pictures she collected over the years as gifts for her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Jeanne's life is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 at New Hope City Church in Longview. Pastor Scott Olin will officiate.
