John Robert Orr, our beloved father, son, brother, grandpa, uncle, and friend went to his heavenly home on August 19th, 2021.
John was born May 18, 1951 in Brush, Colorado. He moved to Kelso, Washington at a young age and was a long-time Kelso resident. John was passionate about his faith, family, music, friendships, and service to others. John graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Washington and later received his nursing degree from Clark College. John spent his career as a dedicated nurse, a profession that equipped him with skills that served him well even in retirement as he cared for his beloved mother, Olive Orr.
John was a friend to all and loved deeply. He loved to sing and perform. He often participated in voice lessons, acting classes, and took every opportunity to share his love of singing. He enjoyed taking his mother and friends to musicals and the opera and helping others find enjoyment in the arts.
John’s greatest treasures were his friends and family. He invested his time and energy toward helping others. John saw the value in each individual’s unique qualities. He supported others in developing their interests and reaching their goals. John loved his children and family immensely. John was truly rich in friendship, family, and love.
John was passionate about God. He was always willing to pray for someone in need, sing an uplifting song that fit the occasion, and shared God’s love wherever he went. John was truly a special person who blessed the lives of those who knew him. He leaves behind his children: Brian (Amber) Orr, Bethany (Jacob) Tolle, Brianna (Adam) Williamson; his grandchildren: Zack (Nikki) Cader, Brooke (Alex) Orth, Ellie Williamson, Emma Tolle, and Jace Williamson; his great grandchildren: Axel and Lyric Orth; his sister, Marcia (David) Ferrell; his nieces and nephews: Bryan Ferrell, Lindsey (Nick) Dykstra, Ryan (Dahianne) Stone, and Mei Ling Ferrell, along with his many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert (Bob) Orr and his mother Olive Orr.
Due to COVID, a small memorial will be held for family. A larger memorial will be held at a later date.
