Wilda L. Haight

January 6, 1936 — December 22, 2021

Wilda “Wild-A” L. Haight (Tucker/Stroshine) age 85 passed away at the Ray Hickey Hospice House on December 22, 2021, with her son and soon to be daughter in-law by her side.

Wilda was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on January 6, 1936. Her father, Ward Stroshine, passed before her birth. Her Mother, Emma Lee re-married Walter Tucker. The family moved to Portland, Oregon and eventually settled in Newberg, Oregon. Walter adopted Wilda and her brother Frank in 1942. After graduating from High School in 1954, she went on to college at Oregon State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Homemaking Education in 1958. She married Ralph Haight while they were both attending OSU in 1956. After college, Wilda and Ralph moved to Portland, Oregon. They had their first son, Richard in 1959 and two years later another son, Roger was born. A third child, Rachelle was born in 1969. Wilda worked as a teacher until she decided to stay home to raise their 3 children. The family lived in Alabama for a couple of years and then moved to Longview, Washington where all 3 children attended school.

Wilda and Ralph divorced in 1978 and Wilda started culinary classes at Lower Columbia College. She had a dream of opening her own restaurant one day. Even though her dream did not become a reality, she did find fulfillment in being a teacher again. She loved children and helped them discover their potential and abilities.

Wilda’s greatest passion was for the Lord. She loved Jesus with all her heart, and she wanted everyone to know how much Jesus loved them. She would share the good news of the Gospel to everyone she met. She was a true light in this dark world. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with friends, spending time with loved ones, working in her yard, studying her Bible and decorating for the seasons.

She will be fondly remembered by her beautiful smile, her infectious humor, and generous heart. She was constantly doing for others and thinking of others first. She had a way of making you feel as if you were the most important person in the room, and you always knew you were loved. She never met a stranger, she believed you were her brother or sister in Christ. She taught her children to work hard, to be independent, to have integrity and to love others.

Wilda is survived by her sons, Richard Haight (Crystal) and Roger Haight (Elizabeth) both of Longview, Washington, Rachelle Capka and her husband Bryan Foetisch and her daughter Jade Capka of Sherwood, Oregon, Rebecca and Cole Clark of Kalama, Washington and their children, Presley, Lane and Wes, Jesse and Meagan Berry of Longview, Washington and their children Rylee and Pace, her brothers Frank Tucker and James Tucker both of Oregon as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

Wilda was preceded in death by her parents Ward Stroshine, Emma Lee Tucker and Walter Tucker, her brother Tom Tucker and sister in-law's Marilyne Tucker and Ruth Tucker.
